Some Kindred may be loathe to admit as much, but the damned do not survive on their own. With the shattering of the Masquerade, they have become more reliant on sympathetic mortals than ever. Some of these mortals are their Ghouls - the Blood Slaves who serve them in exchange for a shred of their supernatural power. But some mortals knowingly ally themselves with Kindred without supernatural intervention. There are many reasons the living take up common cause with their predators. Some do so for curiosity. Some do so for thrills. And still others ally themselves with the damned because they think it will be to their own benefit. The status of these mortals in Anarch society is muddled and disputed, but their impact on the Free City, the Free State, and the undead as a whole cannot be denied.
